My hometown is Okinawa, Japan. When I turned 17 my family and I moved to Washington where I attended university. After graduating and holding down a couple of company jobs, I relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada, where I accepted a job offer. I stayed with the company for more than a year and from there I moved to my current residence near Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Here I live with my husband and pursue learning the fourth language under my belt.
Hey Cinnamonkey. Stumbled on your blog last night. My family is planning on moving to Germany in the next few months. My wife is Japanese and wants to know what you did with your rice cooker and hot water pot. She cannot fathom life without them. Also, have you located any Japanese grocery stores?

Hi Akb1964,
Well, both rice cookers and hot water pots are sold here as well. I didn't have to ship them here. =) As for good Japanese grocery stores, it really depends on where in Germany you intend to move. I know of one in Frankfurt but the biggest Japanese community is in Duesseldorf. They have a small Japan town. For sure, your wife will be able to easily find anything food-wise there.
