Hello Cupcakes How are you enjoying life in Bangkok? I am from Perth also. I am married to a Thai. We live in Perth but have a house in Patumthani. I would like to live in Thailand sometime but I would need something to do. Like a job. And it is not easy to get a work permit, is it? What do you do in Thailand?

Hey Mike Married to a Thai national will make it a whole lot easier for you to get any kind of visa. You'll want to get a multi entry non residence visa first and then your work will help you organise your more permanent work visa once you get into Thailand. Getting the non residence visa should be a chinch for you with your thai partner but it's pretty easy normally anyway. As for work, I'm not sure what you do or if you speak Thai or how old you are etc so I'm not sure what avenues I can recommend to you as to how to get a job. Most younger farang here teach english. You don't need a uni degree but most of the better jobs require one. But there are plenty of farang here doing other things like consulting, doctors and heaps of other things. My partner is an engineer here. If you speak thai you'll have heaps of things that you can do! I don't actually work here. I don't have a university degree so getting a decent job in Bangkok is hard. I speak very basic broken thai so there aren't that many oppertunities for me. I couldn't get a job teaching english as most jobs require a 1 year contract and I'm only here for 6 months. So I volunteer for SCAD, the soi dog foundation and do a few other bits and pieces. I enjoy it a lot! And as for how I'm enjoying Bangkok, I love it! Wouldn't have it any other way. I hope this has been helpful. I can link you up to some websites that might be informative aswell if you like. Elly
