I'm a 24 year-old grad student born and raised in sunny southern California, but currently living in Johannesburg, South Africa. As you may imagine, I have a passion for travel, culture, food and all things international. As an undergrad I majored in International Studies at CLU and during this time I was lucky enough to study abroad for not one, not two, but THREE semesters (one of the perks of the major). During my Sophomore year I spent a Semester at Sea and then went on to spend two semesters in Stellenbosch, South Africa during my Junior and Senior years. As life would have it, while studying in the Rainbow Nation I fell in love with a "local" and I'm sure anyone who doesn't already know the story can very well predict what happens next... In January 2010 I decided to take the plunge and re-locate to Johannesburg to not only be closer to the boy, but also to continue my studies (here) and conquer my (almost) life-long dream of living overseas. So far it's been nothing short of an adventure with plenty of unexpected twists and turns along the way. My blog is not only an outlet for me to keep friends and family updated, but also a way for me to document my not so ordinary life as it happens and provide others with a somewhat informative and often times humorous account of what life is like being a foreigner in a place so far away from home.
