Impossible to bring family into Afghanistan due to safety concerns. Expats are employed on single status only.
When I worked there we had one couple with 2 kids in Kabul. The children stayed in the compound 90%of the time and if they went outside were taken in an armored vehicle with bodyguards followed by another vehicle with 5 armed guards.
The children were young and adapted to that life very well.
