What did you experience in practical life?

My name is Ravi, my wife's name is Amna.

I am half German half Indian, Amna is Japanese.

I am currently staying in Paraguay, Amna is in Mallorca.

We are planning to shift to the wider Alicante area by 1. July.

Currently hunting for rental apartments (BHK, 2 bathrooms, >90m2, pets allowed, max 950€/m).

Idealista and milannuncios gave a good idea about prices and availability.

Let's see, still some time.

Interesting experiences with brokers.

If everything goes smooth we can get to know each other by July / Aug.

There are some questions you might be able to help us with:

1) there seems to be a new law (from 2023?) which says that brokers can't take commission from the tenants of rental apartments.

Is that your experience in practical life?

2) Can I use and then convert my Paraguayan driving license to the Spanish one?

(my research says : yes. But the data might be old)

3)  What is the price of electricity (eurocents / kwh)?

Is it the same or quite similar everywhere, or are there big differences depending on location?

4) How much should we expect to pay for 2 SIM cards and an internet connection (>50mbps)?

Have a nice day !

Ravi & Amna

My experience is not good living in Spain.  Mostly because the Spanish are a deeply troubled people who will meddle with your lives at every conceivable opportunity.  From paperwork to boundary disputes and land grab. You are right to rent because you have the option to leave. Corruption and police intimidation is rife so be aware of this. Sorry if this sounds negative, but this is my experience from the last 14 years. I'd sell but because of local corruption my property has been made illegal so its unsaleable.

However, I do wish you luck and pray you have a better experience.

Adrian
