we are preparing our expatriation to Merida, we love the Merida old house style and we have seen some fantastic renovation projects (a lot to see on airbnb).
does some of you have experienced a renovation or could somebody recommend an architect?
every advice is welcome ;-)

We bought & renovated and then sold a home in Merida roughly 8 years ago...not sure what may have changed since our experince back then. However I can suggest that with or without an architect and/or a construction manager, the key factor to success may be your personal day-to-day involvement with the project. Our project was not a renovation so much as new construction but had elements of both and would easily have gone off track (meaning lots of dollars to correct) if we had not stayed in town and close to the circa 12 month project. Having done that we had only minor corrections required and were vary happy with the cost and quality of the work. BTW, after leaving Merida we bought & renovated in San Miguel de Allende, were very happy with the results but once again closely watched and managed the project.
